About Me

My photo
Upper Largo, Fife, United Kingdom
I'm a Geography graduate from Fife, Scotland. I like music, movies, spending time with friends, reading, blogging, walking, hiking, cycling and just generally being outdoors. Particularly interested in the environment, wildlife, conservation etc...hoping to get job with the countryside rangers in the future. I've always loved taking photos, it's the perfect way to capture the moment. Bit of an amateur but getting more into it since I moved to the east neuk. There is so much to photograph here! I have a penchant for macro shots, but I'm also extremely fond of landscape shots with lots of sky!

Big cats in Britain

It appears I am destined to have an encounter with one of these elusive "beasts".
While reading the newspaper today I noticed a small filler article on a big-cat sighting near Aviemore, click here to see it. The exact location was Inshriach forest, near Kincraig.

My boyfriend and I are planning a visit to the Aviemore area at the beginning of August and Inchriach forest is one of the places we want to go walking when we get there. So it seems a strange coincidence that after looking up Blairadam forest and finding the tale of the "beast" and then this news report on a sighting at Inshriach. At least I will have my camera on me if I do see anything!

Sightings for large black cats seem to be very common. And although there have been several videos of sightings, no-one seems to have been able to provide undeniable evidence and indeed, proof, that these cats are anything other than large domestic moggies.
For more stories on "big cats" living in the UK visit the Big Cats in Britain blog here or for more information on black panthers (the big-cats in question) click here

Although, I can understand why nobody has taken a close up photo of one of these things. If I walked round a bend in the path and saw this staring at me, I'd be off! Let's hope my 15x zoom comes in handy ;)
